    ELEMENTS WORKSHOP:

    This course will run over 6 weeks from 12 noon until 2 pm starting Tuesday 7th February at Bunya House, 1167 South Pine Rd, Arana Hills.

    It will be a basic course on photo editing in Photoshop Elements and you must have your own laptop and Elements program installed to participate. The course fee is $20.

    We  have a new course ready to commence once we have enough participants.

    SHARE TRADING COURSE:

    This course will run weekly on Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the U3A  Pine Rivers Kallangur Centre, 1480 Anzac Ave, Kallangur. It is expected to commence late February or early March and will run for the whole year. Students will only need to bring an exercise book and a pen.

    The course will cover a range of topics including How the Share Market Works; The ASX; Brokers and Providers; Indexes; Investing or Trading.

    HOW TO TRACE YOUR FAMILY HISTORY:

    We are also taking expressions of interest for a short course on How to Trace Your Family History. This course will run weekly in 3rd term i.e. July to September. To register your interest please phone the Course Coordinator, Margaret Evans on 0416 068 297.

     

    WRITING A STORY
    Everyone has a story to tell.  Learn how to bring out that story you have been composing in your head for years.  It might be fiction, a life story or essay.  This class will help you bring it to life.

    Participants could practice writing in difficult genres, while working on a major personal project that may be of interest.

    Classes will be held at the U3A Pine Rivers Centre at Kallangur on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 1.30 to 3.30pm.  Tutor is Ley Edgecombe

    THE UNIVERSE AND MATTER
    This course will cover a very brief overview of the components of our world and the observable universe as we know it. 

    Part 1:  will start with the Earth and gradually examine outwards to – our Solar System; the Milky Way Galaxy; other galaxies, nebulas and other components of the Universe.

    Part 2:  will then turn inwards from the Earth and look at what makes up matter as we know it.

    The course will be based on PowerPoint presentations; video clips or DVD’s and hand out or e-mailed notes.  Group discussions will be encouraged as well as further individual research.

    Classes will be held at the U3A Pine Rivers Centre at Kallangur on Tuesday mornings – 9:30 to 11:30 – commencing on January 24th and then fortnightly.  Tutor is John Tendero.

    CONCORDIA CHOIR
     
    The Concordia Choir offers the challenge of singing a variety of styles of music in four part harmony within a fun atmoshere under the guidance of a very gifted conductor.

    Class will commence on Monday 6th February – 1pm to 3pm.

    GUEST SPEAKER:  

    Everald Compton, AO – Chairman of the Longevity Innovation Hub and author of best selling book “The Man on the Twenty Dollar Notes – Flynn of the Inland”.  Everald was a Founding Director of National Seniors Australia serving on the Board for 35yrs and Chairman for 25yrs retiring in 2010 taking up role as Chairman of the Australian Government’s Advisory Panel on positive ageing for 3 yrs.  He was a Founding Director of ATEC Rail Group in 1996 serving as Chairman for 18yrs and now in a consultancy role to the company.
     
    Free admission – members and visitors are most welcome
