Starting from humble beginnings with 45 members in 1993, U3A Pine Rivers now offers a variety of classes and activities to more than 1000 members. Read about the History of U3A Pine Rivers.
We are currently closed for our mid-year break and reopen on Monday 13th July.
Semester 2 Newsletter out now
The Second Semester Newsletter has been sent to all members, either by email or post. This important document has been completely revamped. All information about a class is now in one place under subject categories, with a handy index page at the back broken down by available days. We thank our editor, Ann Earle, for her fantastic work in revamping the layout, as well as the rest of the newsletter team for distributing this keenly sought information.

Plastic Free July is a global movement that encourages people to make simple changes that reduce plastic waste and create lasting habits. In 2025, an estimated 174 million people took part worldwide, helping to avoid 290 million kilograms of plastic waste. These results show that communities can achieve meaningful environmental outcomes.
Our recent presentation by the Moreton Bay City Council on Waste Management and Plastic Free July was incredibly interesting and very well received. Amy Bartkowski, the presenter from MBCC, will be returning at Midday on Friday 31st July to talk about Composting and Worm Farming. At this session, the MBCC will be providing us with a Composting Bin and a Worm Farm, which we will be giving away as door prizes on the day!
You can register for the Composting and Worm Farming event here: u3apinerivers.org.au/events

Everyone who "works' at U3A Pine Rivers is a volunteer. Without the people who give their time freely, this organisation would not exist.
There are some positions, or roles, that require some level of committment.
All of these roles would benefit from an assistant, or a backup person. Do you have an interest, or skills in these areas? Speak to a member of the committee about how you could help. Consider joining the committee, which meets once a month, or nominating for an executive position in the future.
There are many other ways you could offer your time to help U3A Pine Rivers. For many small tasks you could spend a few extra minutes before or after your class. There is no need to allocate another day unless you wish to.
Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Have a chat to anyone on the committee, about how you could give some of your time to help others in U3A, and yourself.
